Perceptible Invisibility

Commissioned by the Pump House Gallery, London

The 3 Branches of the Same Tree exhibition brought together theories and concepts of science, art and education. Each participating artist engaged in scientific research through close collaboration with a scientist and teachers from two Wandsworth primary schools. Initially looking at ways science can be taught, the works questioned our perception of the world.

Perceptible Invisibility invited visitors to playfully engage with the seemingly impossible properties of magnets. Working with scientist Max Boleininger, and teachers and students from All Saints Church of England and Hotham Primary Schools, I explored a range of actions that demonstrated a magnet’s ability to generate force. Through interaction the audience was invited to investigate the gravity defying abilities of magnets and see their hidden force fields.

Other commissioned artists included Alistair McClymont and Semiconductor.
